ARC-8 Hardband Welder
The ARC-8 Hardband Welder is designed to automate the welding of drill pipe tool joint hardbands. The ARC-8 integrates an industrial computer, motion control and MIG welding into a fully automatic, efficient and clean welding system.
ARC-8 Features Include:
- Efficient work flow.
- Fast tool joint loading and unloading.
- Fully automated welding of fingers, shoulder, and body.
- Torch oscillation and movement controlled by precision slides and stepper motors.
- Easy setup, storage and recall of 99 of welding schedule.
- System controlled by an Omron Industrial computer.
- Completely enclosed and easily vented welding area.
- Complete control of welding process on the operator’s pendent.
- 450 amp ESAB welding system with 4 roll wire feeder
The Arc-8 will increase your production by reducing the non-arc time in the welding process. This is accomplished by setting up an efficient, automated workflow. ARC-8 operators will spend less of their time loading and unloading the tool joints, and more time welding. ARC-8 will consistently produce high quality tool joints, and give the operator enough free time to operate two machines.
The ARC-8 allows tool joints to be loaded quickly by locking the tool joint between two tapered centers. To load a tool joint the operator moves the preheated tool joint from the preheater into the ARC-8 using a roller conveyor. Then operator simply elevates and clamps the tool joint into position between the centers by pushing buttons and the tool joint is then ready to weld.
At the beginning of the job the operator chooses or sets the proper weld schedule. Then after loading the tool joint into position, pushing the start button is all that is necessary to weld the tool joint. The welding of the fingers, the shoulder and body bands are completely automatic. The initial set up of a tool joint is permanently stored in the computer's memory for recall at anytime. The ARC-8 can store up to 99 welding schedules. All schedules are stored in nonvolatile.
