| Robotic GMA Welding System | This system based on a ABB robot uses through the arc tracking to make hard facing welds on ground engaging earth moving equipment parts. Tungsten carbide particles are added to a gas metal arc weld pool to create a very wear resistant deposit. The system features a 5 axis part postioner to allow flat welding on all surfaces. The double ended configuration allows loading while welding. A unique carbide refill system allows the robot to replenish its supply of tungsten carbide while the part is indexing. Infrared sensors are used to confirm correct part preheat before welding is begun. |
| Seal Strip Cutter | The Seal Strip Cutter is a cut-to-length system for sealing strips. Using a servo shear, this system replaced 4 men using hand shears (1st picture) on a dangerous and monotonous job. 4 cutting heads operate asyncronously on 4 lines controlled by a single PMAC based control system. Real time hardware capture of infeed encoder signals allow pricise cutting while the line continues to run at over 80 feet per minute. This system has been running for over 15 years as of 2008. |
