American Welding Society

Yesterday we had the honor of hosting Bob Roth the President of the American Welding Society (AWS) and past President JOHN BRAY on a tour of ARC Specialties. It is volunteers like Bob & John that make the American Welding Society work.
Bob’s other job is President/CEO of RoMan Manufacturing. I have been using RoMan resistance welding transformers for decades, but yesterday was my first opportunity to meet Bob. This type of networking is one of the benefits of membership in a professional society such as AWS. As are the publications such as the Welding Journal. Members also support the AWS Structural Welding Codes which are critical to industry. And we have access to leading-edge technology through local chapter meetings, technical classes, and presentations during the annual welding show. Plus AWS provides $ millions in scholarships each year. I’ll post more on this program in the near future.
After our tour, Bob spoke to the https://awshouston.org/ District 18 Chapter. I was delighted to see a bunch of younger welders, technicians, and engineers in attendance and hope to see more in the future.
I have been a member of AWS for 42 years and benefited immensely from the experience. If you are involved in welding or joining I encourage you to join the American Welding Society.
If you are in the Houston area and would like to attend one of our monthly meetings, contact me to be my guest at no charge.
